Working in Safety, Security & Safeguards, you will contribute to innovative projects that utilize nuclear science for societal benefit, including cleaner energy, waste reduction, and safety. As the UK nuclear industry expands, there is a focus on new developments such as modular reactors, nuclear medicine, and decommissioning. NNL leads in these areas and seeks a criticality safety expert to provide advice, lead assessments, and develop capabilities within the team. The role includes: Building relationships across teams and with external stakeholders. Overseeing technical project delivery. Leading technological development and team skill enhancement. Developing methodologies and standards. Representing NNL at national forums. You should have experience delivering projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards, with established networks at the national and international levels. Flexible working arrangements are supported, including some travel. The role can be based at Sellafield, Workington, Preston, or Risley. Main Responsibilities: Leading criticality safety assessments and projects. Managing stakeholder relationships and providing expert advice. Supporting external consultancy in criticality safety. Maintaining current knowledge of methodologies and leading innovation. Mentoring and developing team skills. Participating in industry groups and representing NNL. Essential Criteria: Degree or equivalent technical qualification. Experience and demonstrable expertise in criticality safety (SQEP 3). In-depth knowledge of assessment techniques. Ability to work independently and lead teams. Strong networking and mentoring skills. Desirable Criteria: Chartered membership or working towards it.
