To be part of the electrical & instrumentation engineering team for building maintenance and breakdown issues. Also, to support the installation and commissioning of improvement and customer projects.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Performing routine Examination, Inspection, Maintenance and Testing on plant and equipment including:
  • Calibration checks of field instrumentation.
  • Stroke test of pneumatic, hydraulic and motor-operated valves.
  • Loop-checks and troubleshooting.
  • Receipt verification and bench checks of instruments.
  • Interlocks, alarms and controls performance verification.
  • Installation inspection against design documentation.
  • Use of calibration and testing instruments to inspect, test and perform troubleshooting and diagnose faults.
  • Communicate design discrepancies and issues to the site supervisor / engineer.
  • Leading on resolving breakdown and recovery maintenance on plant instrumentation equipment.
  • Providing support to the installation, modification and commissioning of instrumentation equipment for project and improvement works.
  • Completing job reporting in accordance with site standards to ensure that a good quality maintenance history is recorded.

Ensuring that:

  • Maintenance, breakdown and project tasks are always covered by an appropriate Safe System of Work (SSOW) and the requirements are always complied with.
  • Appropriate workplace standards are always maintained.

Essential Criteria:

  • Recognised apprenticeship in an instrumentation control engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience in maintenance of process plant and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and work with maintenance documentation.
  • Evidence of self-motivation with demonstrable levels of drive, energy and resilience.
  • Team player with effective communication skills.
  • Flexible approach to learning new skills and self-development.
  • Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years’ worth of UK residency).

Desirable Criteria:

  • IPAF 3a & 3b.
  • CompEx Ex1 – Ex4 or IECEx equivalent.
  • IET 18th Edition BS: 7671.
