The Operations Support Delivery Manager role is responsible for managing a team consisting of Operations Support Officers, Health Physics and Process Workers within the Active Handling Facility. Their team will be responsible for the delivery of front-line operations activities within the facility in line with the business requirements. These activities include but are not limited to, flask operations, waste retrieval, processing and dispatch, refurbishment of nuclear operations areas and supervision of CAPEX projects. The role requires the individual to understand the safety and the quality context their team is expected to work under within a nuclear environment. The role will require working with a matrix of capabilities to enable their team to deliver work on time, safely and at pace. The position requires the maintenance of strong working relationships with the immediate team, projects and facility teams.
Main Responsibilities for Delivery Manager
- Line management responsibility for a team of Operations Support Officers and Operations Support Team Leaders where required.
- Responsible for the creation and management of both team and individual training requirements and continued professional development plans.
- Responsible for ensuring their team maintains the necessary capability to support facility Operations in line with the business need.
- Establish and maintain team KPI’s.
- Responsible for engaging with Shift Delivery Leads, plant operations and maintenance teams to support and direct the implementation of the work schedule.
- Engaging with internal stakeholders to ensure understanding of programme requirements, dependencies and expectations of their team to deliver the business priorities.
- Responsible to the Operations Delivery Manager for providing delivery performance against schedule and providing feedback to the Integration Team, enabling reschedule of failed delivery or mitigation of conflict within the programme.
- Accountable for directing, managing, and initiating corrective actions for their teams work that is not meeting approved scope, schedule, quality and cost.
- Support Plant Operations in the co-ordination of a cross section of matrixed personnel (Operations, Maintenance, System Engineering, etc.) to ensure the team delivers to schedule.
- Support the Operations Delivery Manager on driving continuous improvement culture within their team and the wider business.
- Provide delegated authority to the Operations Delivery Manager as and when required to ensure day to day Operations are efficient and effective, in line with the business requirements.
Assurance and audit activities are conducted to ensure staff are complying with procedures and standards required for:
- Nuclear and conventional safety
- Security of assets and material
- Housekeeping standards
- Production of Safe Systems of Work
This is a site based role and team with the opportunity to work remotely in line with business needs and the requirements to travel to other UKNNL sites.
Essential Criteria for Delivery Manager
- Operational experience in a highly regulated environment, managing technical and facility programmes to a high EHSS&Q standard.
- Experience of managing a multi-skilled team within a demanding environment.
- Takes responsibility and uses their initiative to prioritise and work effectively under pressure.
- Demonstrates experience of working collaboratively in a matrixed organisation.
- Experience of managing the expectation of stakeholders.
- Evidence of problem-solving skills at an operational level.
- Ability to understand complex business needs and their influence on programme delivery.
- Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years’ worth of UK residency).
Desirable Criteria for Delivery Manager
- Experience of operating within environments involving radiological hazards.
- Experience and understanding of Integrated Planning and Outage Management.
- Competent in Microsoft Office Packages (Word / Excel / PowerPoint).
