Science Museum Group is here to inspire futures. We aim to grow visitors' science capital and deepen engagement with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths (STEM).

The Visitor Experience department is responsible for managing queues and access to the museum by the general public and school groups; up-selling paid for galleries and promoting donations and Gift-Aid on all museum ticket desks; the smooth running of our commercial experiences in Power Up and the IMAX Theatre; and supporting ad-hoc activities in our Enterprises and Visitor Experience areas, such as the Visitor Fundraising desk.

About the role

We are now recruiting for Visitor Experience Assistants to join on permanent contracts with both part-time and full-time roles available. These roles are based at the Science Museum in London with the following hours available:

  • 14 Hours per week - 7 hours per day every Saturday and Sunday. (Usually 08.30 - 16.30, 09.15 - 17.15, 09.30 - 17.30 or 10.00 - 18.00)
  • 10 Hours per week - 5 hours per day every Saturday and Sunday. (Usually 10.00 - 15.00, 11.00 - 16.00 or 11.30 - 16.30)

As a Visitor Experience Assistant, you will be a point of contact for our visitors and thrive to ensure their visit reflects the Science Museum's mission of Inspiring Futures. You will provide high-quality customer service; handle sales and cash; manage queues; usher customers; promote Gift-Aid and donations; and provide information to our visitors. Assisting the department reach its targets, you will also proactively up-sell Museum's attractions.

About you

Regardless of your experience, if you're ready to utilise your communication skills and motivated attitude, we want to hear from you! Joining us, you must be aged 18 or over to apply for this role due to the evacuation responsibilities and the handling of alcohol. You will have good communication skills and a friendly and accommodating attitude. You will have a high-level of customer service or willingness to learn the skills to become truly visitor focused. Being able to work and build relationships with a range of different people, you will enjoy supporting others. You will embody a welcoming approach for our visitors, possessing the confidence to approach and engage with visitors to understand their needs, or to promote Museum activities.
