About the Treasure Trove Unit Administrator role:

As Treasure Trove Unit Administrator, you are responsible for the day-to-day administrative tasks of the treasure trove system. As a Treasure Trove Unit Administrator at National Museums Scotland you will:

  • Be the main first point of general contact for the unit, internally and externally, triage correspondence and send routine responses where necessary, to ensure good and timely communication
  • Support the Head of Treasure Trove Operations in such duties as dealing with correspondence and organising paperwork, to ensure their effectiveness
  • Organise appointments and logistics for finds days and excavations - booking venues, travel, accommodation and process expense claims
  • Support the administration of SAFAP (Scottish Archaeological Finds Allocation Panel) including meetings paperwork and providing minutes and supporting the organisation of the annual report event

Skills and experience we're looking for in our Treasure Trove Unit Administrator:

  • Knowledge and understanding of databases, filing systems, modern office systems and procedures.
  • Excellent ICT skills in MS Office, Excel, MS Teams, Outlook, and databases.
  • Ability to deal with specialist and non-specialist public.
  • Proven work experience in a busy administration environment.
  • Experience of maintaining confidentiality and need for discretion.
