About the Driver/Support Assistant role:
This is a varied role based at our Collections Centre in Granton as well as the National Museum of Scotland on Chambers Street. This role is all about providing operational support in the warehouses and includes: general warehousing/porterage; manual handling and/or the use of materials handling equipment to move, materials, furniture, equipment and crated/palletised objects; reception / security duties and activities such as escorting of contract personnel and janitorial services.
As a Driver/Support Assistant at National Museums Scotland you will:
- Drive vehicles – 3.5 tonne Luton van, transit van and all-terrain vehicle
- Carry out general warehouse duties including: materials, equipment and Museum object moves, contractor escorting and janitorial duties
- Provide reception services registering NMS personnel, visitors and contractors
- Monitor CCTV, intruder and fire system (training provided)
- Carry out site health and safety checks.
Skills and experience we’re looking for in our Driver/Support Assistant:
- Full clean manual driving licence
- Manual handling and materials handling experience
- Warehouse reception and security experience
- Knowledge of Health & Safety at work procedures.
