Overview

Security Officer – Off-Site Stores, Belfast. National Museums NI is a leading cultural institution responsible for ensuring its significant collection is developed, cared for and accessible to the widest possible audience.

Location: Collections Store, Belfast

Salary: £26,449 – £28,094 pro rata, per annum

Package: NICS pension scheme. Generous leave entitlement.

Contractual hours: 37 per week. Basis: Full time. The role may require working evenings and public/bank holidays, with a two-week shift pattern (four days one week and three days the following week) including weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain security, safety and integrity of the stores and liaise with the Ulster Museum Security team when the building is closed to the public.
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors and collections at all times; adhere to high standards of procedures and good practice.
  • Work with a Security colleague or as a lone worker; be able to identify risks to staff, visitors and collections and act promptly to address any danger in line with site security procedures.
  • Accept responsibility when working under minimal supervision and use own initiative to respond to emergencies.

Contract and Working Arrangements

This is a full-time post. The successful candidate will work 37 hours per week, usually as 12-hour shifts on a two-week pattern (four days one week, three days the following week) to include weekends. The role may require outside-hours work, including evenings and public/bank holidays.
