Job Opportunity: Locum Consultant at University Hospital, South Coast of England

We are seeking an experienced locum consultant for a position at a university hospital located on the South Coast of England. The initial contract is for 3 months, with the possibility of extension.

Working Schedule: Monday – Friday + 1 in 5 weekends on-call

Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily work on HASU, including attending stroke calls and assessing patients for thrombolysis/thrombectomy.
  • Conduct daily TIA clinics.
  • Participate in outpatient stroke clinics (held weekly, shared among colleagues), with potential to expand services to include virtual and face-to-face appointments.
  • Attend daily board rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Share duties with colleagues to ensure continuity of patient care.

Weekly Schedule Overview:

  • Week 1: Ward SPA, Ward, Ward/OFF, On call, On call, On call
  • Week 2: Ward/admin, Ward, OFF, Ward, SPA, OFF, OFF
  • Week 3: Clinic/admin, Ward, SPA, Ward, Ward, OFF, OFF
  • Week 4: Ward, Ward, Ward, SPA, Ward, OFF, OFF
  • Week 5: Ward, Ward, Ward, Ward, SPA, OFF, OFF

Requirements:

  • GMC registration; entry on the specialist register is advantageous but not essential.
  • Minimum of 1 year NHS experience at the Consultant level, with the ability to work independently.
