About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant in Respiratory Medicine to join our team in South West England. This is a full-time position starting on 24th June 2024 and running until 1st November 2024, with potential for extension. The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00, with on-call responsibilities to be discussed at the point of booking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Paediatric and Adult Clinics: Conduct one Paediatric EMG clinic per week (Tuesday PM, 2pm-4pm, 1-3 patients) and associated admin. Conduct one Adult EMG clinic per week (Monday AM, 9am-12pm, 4-5 patients) and associated admin.
- EEG and EMG Duties: Review and report on one paediatric Video Telemetry EEG per week (24-100 hours of data). Perform any urgent inpatient Nerve Conduction Studies/Electromyography for both adults and paediatrics (1-3 studies per week). Same-day, onsite review of all inpatient EEGs performed within the adults and children’s hospitals, Monday-Friday. Report on an estimated 30-40 EEG studies per week (including both inpatient and outpatient caseloads for adults and paediatrics).
- On-Call Duties: Be available Saturday PM to report any emergency adult or paediatric EEGs performed on Saturday mornings.
Requirements:
- Medical degree and full GMC registration.
- CCT in Respiratory Medicine or equivalent.
- Substantial experience in Respiratory Medicine at the consultant level.
- Proficiency in paediatric and adult EMG and EEG procedures.
- Strong clinical, diagnostic, and management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and education.
