Role Highlights:
- Mix of Theatre & Outpatient Work:
- 3 days/week in theatre : Perform advanced pain procedures including radiofrequency ablations, cervical/thoracic epidurals, genicular nerve blocks, joint injections (hip/SI), and facet joint interventions . Slots are 30 mins (injections) or 60 mins (RF).
- 1 day/week in clinic : Assess new and follow-up patients (16β24/day, 30 mins/new, 20 mins/follow-up), with admin time integrated. Virtual/face-to-face follow-ups optional.
- Structured Schedule : Weekdays only (08:00β18:00), no on-call., 4 days a week
- Long-Term Stability : Immediate start (flexible from mid-July), with potential extension to March 2026 .
Ideal Candidate:
- Must be a substantive or experienced locum Consultant in Pain Medicine or Rheumatology with entry on the specialist register in Anaesthesia or Rheumatology with proven pain procedure skills:
- Cervical epidural
- Genicular nerve blocks
- Injection of hip joints
- Injection of sacroiliac joints
- Therapeutic thoracic epidural injection
- Facet joint nerve blocks
- Trigger point injections
Workload:
- up to 16 theatre patients/day, depending on complexity (Slots are 30 mins (injections) or 60 mins (RF))
- Familiarity with Cerner (remote training provided) and Smartsheets for data reporting.
Logistics:
- Admin duties : Real-time note completion, discharge notifications, and end-of-day reporting via the trustβs digital systems.
- Support : Remote Cerner training and rota agreed in advance for work-life balance.
