This is an ongoing post with potential for extension, ideal for a subspecialist with expertise in pulmonary/lung/thoracic pathology.

About the Role:

  • Subspecialist reporting: Join established teams delivering high-quality diagnostic services, including lung pathology (a major regional referral hub), with opportunities in other adult pathology subspecialties.
  • Digital & molecular pathology: Work within a UKAS-accredited ISO15189 laboratory with embedded digital reporting (remote options available) and strong links to molecular pathology.
  • Teaching & MDTs: Contribute to postgraduate training and multidisciplinary meetings in a large tertiary centre.
  • Flexible job plan: 10 PAs (9 DCC:1 SPA), no on-call.

The Department:

  • 23+ consultant team covering all major subspecialties (excluding renal/cardiovascular).
  • State-of-the-art facilities: Digital pathology platforms, voice recognition software, and a modern mortuary for coronial/hospital autopsies.
  • Regional genomics centre: Collaborative environment with academic and clinical pathology networks.

Requirements:

  • FRCPath (or equivalent) and GMC registration.
  • CCT would be advantageous.
  • NHS experience and proficiency in subspecialist reporting.
  • Strong teamwork and teaching skills.
