About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Microbiology to join our team in Essex. This full-time position is available from 11th July 2024 to 10th October 2024, with the potential for extension. The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00, with on-call responsibilities as per the rota.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert microbiological advice and support to clinical teams.
- Manage the microbiology laboratory and ensure high standards of practice.
- Conduct infection control and antimicrobial stewardship activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Mentor and support junior medical staff and healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical and laboratory records.
Requirements:
- Medical degree and full GMC registration.
- CCT in Microbiology or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in microbiology at the consultant level.
- Strong clinical and diagnostic skills in microbiology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
