As our Graphic Designer, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering the visual identity of the national institute. Working closely with the Head of PR and Communications and wider Partnerships team, you will create high-quality, engaging visual content that supports our campaigns, programmes and brand. You will be responsible for producing compelling design across a range of channels, including print, digital and social media, ensuring consistency and excellence across all outputs. With a strong eye for detail and creativity, you will help translate complex ideas into clear, engaging and accessible visual communications. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing organisation, helping to elevate our brand presence across the education sector and ensure our communications stand out in a competitive landscape. This is a hybrid role, and it is anticipated that the postholder will work on campus one day per fortnight. We are looking for someone who can start immediately.
Key responsibilities:
- Create compelling visual content across print, digital, and social media, including campaigns, presentations, email templates, event materials, literature, videos, animations, illustrations, icons, infographics and other visual assets.
- Develop innovative design concepts that align with brand guidelines and amplify campaign messages.
- Support the maintenance and evolution of the national institute's visual identity, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints.
- Provide creative direction to ensure the brand stands out in a competitive sector and resonates with our audiences.
- Support PR, Communications and Marketing leads to develop and execute the Partnerships team’s strategies.
- Offer guidance to stakeholders on visual storytelling and strategic visual communication.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external partners and suppliers (including printers and agencies) to deliver high-quality design outputs.
- Proof, quality-check and prepare artwork for print and digital publication, ensuring accuracy and high production standards.
- Support the creation and management of templates and internal documents to ensure brand consistency and efficiency across teams.
- Manage and maintain visual assets, including image libraries and sourcing appropriate imagery in line with brand guidelines.
- Use project management tools and systems to manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines.

- Be aware of and observe all policies, procedures, working practices and regulations, and particularly comply with policies relating to Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety, Confidentiality, Data Protection and Financial Regulations, reporting any concerns to an appropriate person.
- Comply with all reasonable management requests.
Requirements:
- Have a degree in Graphic Design or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Have proven experience delivering multiple, high-quality campaigns for internal products or services across a variety of channels.
- Be expert proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Dreamweaver).
- Have an impressive portfolio showcasing creative excellence in print, digital, and branded design, including literature, videos and animations, event collateral, infographics, iconography and other multimedia assets.
- Have a deep understanding of design principles, typography, colour theory, brand development and consistent brand application.
- Be able to translate complex information into clear, engaging and visually compelling content.
- Show exceptional attention to detail, with excellent time management and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Prove ability to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.
- Have excellent communication skills, with the ability and confidence to liaise and build relationships with colleagues at all levels across the organisation.
- Show a commitment to the vision and mission of the National Institute of Teaching, and equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Have previous experience of working in a remote team where key stakeholders are based across the country.
- Have experience in both B2B and B2C design.
- Have a deep understanding of the education sector.
Working at the National Institute of Teaching:
- Contract: Fixed-term contract for five months, full-time. Immediate Start.
- Salary: £34,434 per annum + benefits (pro‑rata)
- Location: Hybrid within commuting distance of Beckenham, Birmingham, Blackburn, Doncaster, Redcar, Bristol, Liverpool or Bradford. Requirement to go into office once a fortnight.
