Job summary:

We’re seeking motivated individuals from all backgrounds and experience levels in the construction industry to join our team overseeing technical risk for exciting new build and conversion projects. This is a nationwide, home-based role where technical experience will be an advantage to help you hit the ground running. What you’ll be doing

As a Technical Building Consultant, you will oversee the technical risk management of Risk Level 1 and 2 new build and conversion projects, ensuring compliance with the Warranty Risk Policy. You\’ll conduct risk assessments, develop tailored risk management plans, and monitor projects through dynamic profiling.

Responsibilities extend to:

  • Acting as Project Manager on warranty only projects, manage and co-ordinate the input of other specialists in the TRM project team.
  • Engage, influence and negotiate with developers and their design teams at the proposal stage to provide expert knowledge, and professional and technical advice on NHBC Standards and Building Codes, Safety standards and Compliance.
  • Oversee technical risk management for Risk level 1 and 2 new build and conversion projects.
  • Conduct holistic risk assessments to determine project risk level and builder risk.
  • Develop bespoke technical risk management plans, including inspection regimes and warranty conditions.
  • Manage workload and tasks to meet SOPs and SLAs.
  • Resolve customer complaints and manage conflicts through effective escalation.
  • Carry out site inspection of building work as part of the technical risk management strategy and provide planned and responsive support to inspectors, surveyors and engineers in the project team.

What we’re looking for

  • Good understanding of why and how buildings fail and result in claims.
  • Understanding of building Pathology and experience of building defect identification. Aptitude to problem solve and be able to identify actions required to mitigate risks.
  • On-site experience with good knowledge of the housing sector.
  • A working knowledge of NHBC Technical Standards and a good working knowledge of Building Regulations
  • IT literate across a range of software programmes – Microsoft Office.
  • Good communicator with appropriate interpersonal skills, planning and organisational skills.
  • Relevant accredited HND/HNC/ Degree qualification, or substantial relevant industry experience would be considered.
