Job summary: We are on the lookout for a Carpentry Technician, helping to shape the next generation of skilled housebuilders. You’ll use your practical carpentry experience to support our training hubs, keeping materials and tools in top condition while guiding and inspiring apprentices as they learn. This is a hands‑on role where every day brings the chance to share your knowledge, build quality learning experiences, and take pride in developing future industry talent.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting the senior trainer by preparing materials, tools, and resources for training sessions.
- Teaching and guiding apprentices during practical workshops when the senior trainer is unavailable.
- Maintaining a safe, organised, and fully stocked training environment.
- Constructing and demonstrating carpentry examples to support tuition.
- Keeping accurate apprentice progress records using our online system.
- Helping plan and build training structures for learners.
- Ensuring all Health & Safety, PPE, and first aid standards are maintained.
- Assisting with site visits, workshops, and presentations to visitors or partners.
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience in site carpentry, including 1st fix, 2nd fix, and roofing.
- A solid background in housebuilding or site-based carpentry.
- Ability to read drawings, plan materials, and maintain a safe workspace.
- Confident communicator who can guide, motivate, and support apprentices.
- Organised, proactive, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Carpentry qualification at Level 2 or above (Level 3 and teaching experience are a bonus).
- Full driving licence and willingness to complete First Aid training.
