About the role

Engineering form part of a group of three teams including, Special Effects and Painting Joinery & Display, known as Technical Production.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will support the department’s activities focusing on the development, production and maintenance hands-on interactive electro-mechanical exhibits, along with production and installation of large scale specimen mounts.

About you

You will have completed a recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship with C&G accreditation or equivalent experience. Your academic qualifications should include GCSE or equivalent in English, Maths and a science subject.

You have significant experience in the setting and operation of lathes and milling machines pillar drills, grinders, polishers and bending machines as well as experience in the production and or interpretation of engineering drawings, CAD experience is an advantage. You will also be experienced in bench fitting as well as gas, arc and TIG welding and worked with a variety of material types .

The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of H&S practices and procedures and the production of associated documentation is requirement for the successful candidate.

You will have the ability to work in a wide range of conditions and environments performing tasks with the manual dexterity relevant to the job description. For example, working at heights and working in a building site environment.
