About the role

Join a once‑in‑a‑generation transformation at the Natural History Museum, helping move over a third of its 80 million specimens into a state‑of‑the‑art collections centre. As part of the NHM Unlocked Moves programme, this role leads the logistics planning that will bring this complex, large‑scale relocation to life. You’ll take ownership of move sequencing, spatial planning, and day‑to‑day logistics, translating high‑level strategy into practical delivery plans. Working at the heart of a dynamic project team, you’ll coordinate transport and contractors, manage interdependencies across programmes, and ensure collections are moved safely, efficiently, and on schedule. Alongside leading logistics, you will manage smaller projects within the programme, oversee budgets and resources, and provide clear reporting and insight to support key decisions. This is a highly collaborative role, requiring close engagement with stakeholders across the Museum to align priorities, solve challenges, and keep momentum.

About you

The ideal candidate will hold a recognised project management qualification and bring hands‑on experience supporting and delivering projects, with a proven ability to identify issues, recommend solutions, and drive progress. Experience working in a museum, heritage, or similarly complex operational environment would be advantageous, particularly where logistics or operational coordination has been a key component. They will be highly organised and proactive, capable of managing multiple priorities under pressure and adapting quickly to changing circumstances. With a solid grounding in project governance, they will be comfortable contributing to high‑quality delivery through effective planning, reporting, and documentation. A confident communicator, the candidate will be able to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders, tailoring their approach and messaging to different audiences. They will demonstrate strong teamwork and stakeholder engagement skills, alongside an ability to analyse data and produce clear, insightful reports. The role also requires an awareness of project budgets and cost control, as well as some experience managing contractors and working within health and safety protocols. Overall, the candidate will combine practical delivery skills, logistical awareness, and strong interpersonal capabilities to support the successful execution of complex projects.
