Overview
In this role you will oversee the front-of-house admin function across two busy Emergency Departments, ensuring a welcoming, efficient service. You will lead clerical staff, coordinate patient administration, and partner with clinical teams to support smooth operations. The role combines people management, process supervision, and cross-site collaboration to meet service demands with flexibility. This is a hands-on position that shapes patient experience and department performance.
Responsibilities
- Monitor staffing and stock levels to meet service demands
- Supervise and support clerical staff; provide training in patient administration and customer service
- Collaborate with medical, nursing and admin colleagues to deliver front-of-house and admin services
- Work across LGI and SJUH Emergency Departments, covering all adult and paediatric areas
- Maintain a shift-based rota and provide additional cover including weekends/bank holidays and short-notice staffing needs

- Confident with the public and able to communicate with patients, relatives and colleagues in busy situations
- Excellent IT skills and knowledge of patient administration systems
- Experience with Emergency Department Symphony system is advantageous (training provided)
