Overview

In this role you support the Oncology and Haematology Day Unit in delivering high-quality care to patients receiving SACT/chemotherapy in a fast-paced setting. You work closely with doctors and nurses to uphold Trust values and, after training, perform venepuncture, cannulation, venesection and PICC line care. This is an exciting opportunity to learn new skills while contributing to a dynamic team. The post is based at St Margaret's Hospice, Yeovil, with flexible full- or part-time shifts. You will helpshape patient experience in a cancer care unit that values compassionate, collaborative care.

Responsibilities

  • Support doctors and nurses in delivering high standards of care to chemotherapy patients
  • Assist with routine procedures and patient care in a day unit setting
  • Provide care and support for SACT patients in a fast-paced environment
  • Undertake venepuncture, cannulation, venesection and PICC line care after training
  • Coordinate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure smooth unit operations

Key requirements

  • QCF Level 3 or equivalent healthcare qualification
  • Previous recent experience in an acute or community setting
  • Desirable: cannulation and phlebotomy, ECG recording, blood glucose monitoring
  • Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check required
