Overview
In this role you lead and develop clinical services to ensure equitable, high-quality care for patients at home and in the community. You will sit on the Senior Leadership Team and act as Registered Manager with the CQC, shaping service strategy, governance and improvement across West Cumbria. You’ll lead multidisciplinary teams, drive clinical excellence, and support workforce development in a mission-driven hospice setting.

Responsibilities
- Develops and implements an ambitious strategic plan for clinical services and pursues new service opportunities
- Leads governance, risk oversight, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance across clinical activities
- Manages workforce strategy, recruitment, development and a culture of continuous improvement
- Cultivates external relationships with stakeholders and commissioners to improve care quality and outcomes
- Oversees budgeting for clinical services and ensures financial stewardship
- Acts as Registered Manager with the CQC and coordinates inspection readiness and regulatory reporting
- Ensures data protection compliance (GDPR) and maintains accurate clinical databases
- Promotes a values-led, inclusive workplace and drives organisational development
- Prepares and presents reports to the Board and committees to inform decisions
- Ensures alignment with hospice mission and public safety policies
Key requirements
- Degree level or equivalent professional qualification in a clinical or healthcare management discipline
- Continued professional development relevant to the role
- Experience at management level in a comparable organisation
- Clinical competence in palliative care
- Experience with strategic and operational planning
- Budget management experience
- Proven ability to build external relationships
- Ability to lead, influence and manage multidisciplinary teams
- Flexibility to travel and attend meetings as required
