Overview
In this Ophthalmologist role, you will deliver high-quality community ophthalmology care across CHEC clinics and hospitals. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide general ophthalmology services, glaucoma, AMD, laser treatments and cataract-related procedures at scale. The position supports NHS collaboration and involves supervising community ophthalmology services and maintaining high clinical standards. You will contribute to CHEC’s mission of expanding patient-centered care across England and benefit from state-of-the-art facilities and an experienced support team.

Responsibilities
- Conduct ophthalmology consultations and/or surgeries across CHEC services
- Supervise adult community ophthalmology services delivered by healthcare professionals
- Deliver general ophthalmology, glaucoma, AMD, laser treatments and minor eye operations
- Perform high-volume phacoemulsification under topical anaesthesia where applicable
- Review and contribute to annual job plans with Clinical Director
Key requirements
- UK registered Medical Degree or equivalent
- MRCOphth/FRCOphth/FRCS
- Full or Specialist GMC Registration
- Up-to-date with current medical practice
- Wide training and experience in general ophthalmology
- Ability to provide expert clinical opinion and work independently
- Understanding of audit and Clinical Governance
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to travel to multiple hospital sites within a region
- Desirable: competent independent cataract surgeon
