Main duties of the job:

  • The post holder will deputise for the Head of Healthcare supporting delivery of strategic goals for the service and those of HMP Coldingley leadership team.
  • The post holder will support leadership of a multidisciplinary team alongside colleagues, subcontracted and other partners/organisations paying special and constant attention to ensuring CNWL and HMP Coldingley staff work in an integrated way to develop a 'One Team' approach.
  • Support Cordingley's HoH and team to provide high quality healthcare services that are constantly reviewed to ensure they meet the needs of prisoners in custody and that includes the involvement of service users and family in planning care and services.
  • Operationally manage designated services within healthcare at HMP Coldingley to ensure an equitable service to that available in the community. The post holder is responsible for ensuring that the highest quality, evidence-based services are provided.

Person Specification:

  • Education and Qualifications:
    • Essential: Registered Healthcare Professional (Nurse, Psychologist/Paramedic etc), Evidence of Continuous Professional Development, Degree Level Qualification.
    • Desirable: Non-Medical Prescriber, Management Qualification.
  • Previous Experience:
    • Essential: Substantial post registration experience in Primary care, Health and wellbeing or an acute setting (Adult), Experience of staff management, development, supervision and appraisal, Experience of joint working with other agencies.
    • Desirable: Prior experience of working in a secure setting e.g. prison, YOI, secure school, Experience of developing policies and procedures.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Essential: Knowledge of illnesses and presentations, Knowledge of the principles of Best Value/Clinical Governance, Knowledge of current developments and practice, Knowledge of Trauma informed ways of working and Frameworks, Good communicator with competent presenting skills, Effective management skills, Able to identify opportunities for developing effective and efficient service delivery, Able to manage change and respond flexibly to non-routine situations, Able to provide clinical leadership and contribute to strategic direction.
    • Desirable: Knowledge of the principles of Quality management, Knowledge of and participation in research.
  • Attitudes, aptitudes personal characteristics:
