Overview

As a Clinical Associate Psychologist, you will work within local Mental Health Teams to provide direct psychological interventions to adults with a range of mental health difficulties. You will support senior psychologists and contribute to a multidisciplinary service focused on community-based care. The role involves flexible delivery across in-person, telephone, and digital formats, plus engagement in training, research, and service development. You will help expand access to evidence-based psychological care and engage with diverse service users and partners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychological assessments and treatments to adults within LMHTs
  • Work under supervision in line with BPS guidelines
  • Deliver individual and group interventions and contribute to service development
  • Engage in liaison with health, social care and voluntary sector partners
  • Participate in staff training and research/quality improvement activities
  • Support flexible delivery across settings (in person, phone, digital)
  • Contribute to MDT working and ensure care planning aligns with regional needs

Key requirements

  • Masters Clinical Associate in Psychology qualification
  • Eligibility for registration on the BPS Wider Psychological Workforce register
  • Relevant supervised experience in adult mental health assessments and interventions
  • Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Relevant CPD as required by the BPS
  • Current UK professional registration (as applicable)
  • Excellent interpersonal and rapport-building abilities
  • Empathy and sensitive communication
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Clinical assessment and formulation
  • Evidence-based psychological interventions
  • Mental health knowledge for adults
