Full time Consultant Psychiatrist. The post holder will provide psychiatrist outpatient care for adults aged 18-65 in the Wellingborough and East Northants CMHT.
Main duties of the job:
- Provide clinical leadership to the team and take clinical responsibility for the assessment and treatment of patients as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team.
- Clinics for assessing new referrals, medication reviews for patients in the team and reviews.
- Supervision of MDT colleagues around cases they are managing.
- Oversee the medication and care of patients in the depot and clozapine clinics.
- Undertake Mental Health Act assessments on patients from within the sector.
- Be the Responsible Clinician for patients detained under a Community Treatment Order.

- In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.

- Ability to work independently as well as part of a MDT.

- Willingness to undertake training and CPD in areas appropriate to this post.

Knowledge and Experience (Essential):
- Full GMC Registration.
- On Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry or eligible for inclusion within six months.
- Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act. Approved Clinician status (or eligible within six months).
Desirable:
- Additional Postgraduate Qualifications.
- Publication of original research.
- Management training.
Skills and Abilities (Essential):
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Evidence of the ability to communicate with patients, colleagues and staff at all levels.
- Ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences including courts and tribunals.
- Ability to motivate and develop other medical colleagues and other MDT members.
- To balance individual requirements against those of the Directorate and Trust as a whole.
- An understanding of the political and financial framework within which the Services operate.
- Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
- Post holder will need to take initiative and work in a self-directed manner.
Desirable:
- Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service.
- Able to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post.
- Experienced in clinical research and/or service evaluation.
