Overview
In this Bank-post role, you will provide a specialist psychology service to adults with complex mental health needs within HPFT’s Adult Community Services in Watford. You will collaborate closely with local psychology and therapy colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary team and supervise band 7 psychologists and trainees. You’ll undertake ASD assessments when needed and contribute to policy, service development, research, and audits. This position combines autonomous clinical responsibility with a supportive, values-driven culture and opportunities to shape service delivery.

Responsibilities
- Carry out specialist psychological assessments using diverse data sources and structured interviews
- Formulate and implement treatment plans for complex mental health problems
- Deliver CBT-based interventions for individuals, carers, families, and groups across teams
- Evaluate treatment options using multiple theoretical models and monitor outcomes
- Work autonomously within HCPC guidelines and Trust policies
- Provide expert consultation and supervision on psychological care to team members
- Collaborate with local psychology and therapy colleagues in a MDT setting
- Contribute to policy/service development, research, service evaluation and audits
- Ensure effective supervision and support for trainee and junior psychologists
- Undertake specialist ASD assessments when required as part of autism assessment group
Key requirements
- At least two years' full-time post-registration experience in specialist psychological assessment and treatment
- Full professional registration
- Post-graduate doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent for Counselling Psychologist)
- Experience in neuropsychological assessment
- Experience with moderate to severe mental health problems and MDT work
- Car driver
- Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and UK professional registration compliance
