Overview
In this role you lead the estates capital programme, guiding planning, procurement and delivery of construction, refurbishment, infrastructure and engineering projects. You’ll shape estate transformation aligned with the Trust’s mission to improve patient care, staff experience and sustainability. You work with clinical, operational and corporate teams to ensure projects meet NHS standards and deliver service transformation. This is a high‑impact, senior leadership position with a focus on safe delivery, financial discipline and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for the capital programme and oversee multiple complex projects
- Develop capital strategies and project governance
- Manage budgets and procurement activities, ensuring NHS compliance
- Lead business case development and investment appraisal
- Advise senior leaders and maintain relationships with clinical services, finance, regulators, consultants, and contractors
- Lead the Capital Projects team and promote high standards of delivery, risk management, health and safety, sustainability and innovation
- Support service transformation and strategic objectives across trusts locations
Key requirements
- Senior-level experience managing complex capital programmes or large construction projects
- Proven ability to deliver major building or infrastructure projects within complex operational environments
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing large capital budgets
- Strong skills in business case development, governance, procurement and financial reporting
- Knowledge of NHS estates standards, statutory compliance and health and safety regulations
- Formal project management qualification and Chartered membership of a relevant body (e.g. RICS, CIOB, CIBSE)
