Overview
In this role, you will provide senior scientific and operational leadership for the Morphology EQA portfolio within UK NEQAS Haematology. You will deputise for the Haematology Service Manager and lead a team in morphology, parasitology, rapid diagnostic testing, haemosiderin and digital morphology. You will shape service development, collaborate with experts and suppliers, and ensure high-quality EQA data and reporting. Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the Morphology EQA service operations (morphology, parasitology, RDT, haemosiderin, digital morphology)
- Deputise for the Haematology Service Manager and support wider service delivery
- Line manage and develop EQA Scientists and support staff; provide specialist teaching in microscopy and morphology
- Coordinate preparation, testing and distribution of survey material; verify participant data
- Analyse EQA data and interpret performance; investigate complex queries and trends
- Validate new techniques, methods, equipment and survey materials
- Author/review SOPs and controlled documents; manage non-conformances and CAPA
- Support service development, reporting/analytics, digital morphology, and IT validation
Key requirements
- Degree or equivalent professional qualification
- MSc, FIBMS Special in Haematology or equivalent
- Current HCPC registration
- Evidence of active CPD participation
- Staff management and supervision
- Teaching and mentoring
- Analytical thinking and problem solving
- Specialist knowledge of blood film and bone marrow morphology
- Parasitology and rapid diagnostic testing
- Digital morphology and cytochemical staining
