Overview
Dynamic HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist leading automated haematology EQA at UK NEQAS. You will provide senior scientific and operational leadership, shaping automated counting programmes and quality management. You’ll work with manufacturers, contribute to advisory groups and drive service development. The role offers cross-functional impact within a mission to deliver excellent patient care through innovation and quality assurance.

Responsibilities
- Provide senior scientific and operational leadership for automated haematology EQA programmes
- Deputise for Haematology Service Manager and support wider service delivery
- Line manage and develop EQA Scientists and staff
- Coordinate preparation, testing and distribution of survey material; verify participant data
- Analyse EQA data and interpret participant performance
- Investigate complex participant queries and systemic performance trends
- Validate new parameters, methods, equipment and survey materials
- Draft, review and maintain SOPs and controlled documents
- Investigate non-conformances and support CAPA; contribute to service development and IT validation
Key requirements
- Degree or equivalent professional qualification
- MSc, FIBMS Special in Haematology or equivalent
- Current HCPC registration
- Active CPD participation
- Extensive senior-level experience in laboratory haematology with automated cell counting platforms
- Staff management and supervision experience
- Experience with laboratory information or data management systems
- Experience with word processing and spreadsheets
- Knowledge of EQA and performance assessment in laboratory medicine
- Basic statistical knowledge
