Overview

In this role you will support delivery of evidence-based stop smoking services across Sefton to reduce health inequalities. You will work in community venues, GP practices and workplaces, with occasional hospital liaison to optimise referrals post-discharge. You’ll deliver a range of interventions (one-to-one, group, drop-in, telephone/online) and provide ongoing motivational support aligned with the NCSCT standards. You’ll collaborate with partners to embed cessation into routine care and help clients set realistic, sustainable goals. This is a mission-driven opportunity to improve lives through smoking cessation at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the service across organisations and embed smoking cessation in routine care
  • Motivate clients to change and deliver evidence-based cessation interventions
  • Explain principles of the nicotine and Stop Smoking Service to enable informed choices
  • Deliver interventions (1:1, drop-in, group, telephone/online) per NCSCT Standard Treatment Programme
  • Analyse health and equality data to inform local service delivery
  • Provide high-quality, efficient, cost-effective services across diverse community settings
  • Lead peer support sessions to prevent relapse
  • Provide education on smoking cessation and behavioural change with ongoing motivation
  • Help individuals set realistic, sustainable goals
  • Keep client and service records up to date per ABL Health policies
  • Prioritise competing demands and manage workload to deadlines

Key requirements

  • Experience in smoking cessation or addiction with community work
  • Motivated, proactive, organised and able to work flexibly across borough
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to prioritise, use judgement and manage competing demands
  • Driving licence and vehicle for travel across the borough
