Overview

In this role you will join the Ultrasound team across South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust to perform and independently report ultrasound examinations. You will work across three sites with extended day and weekend sessions to support patient flow and service delivery. You will contribute to teaching trainee sonographers and maintain high professional standards. Responsibilities

  • Perform ultrasound examinations and report findings for a broad patient group unsupervised
  • Report scan findings clearly with follow-up recommendations and imaging as appropriate
  • Demonstrate skills across obstetric, gynecological, general abdominal and high-risk/complex exams
  • Participate in quality control of ultrasound equipment and maintain accurate patient records
  • Lead practical teaching and supervision of trainee sonographers (β‰ˆ6 sessions/week)
  • Support departmental workflow, manage referrals, and assist with protocol development
  • Cover for colleagues as needed to maintain timely examinations
  • Participate in clinical meetings, audits, and CPD to maintain skills

Key requirements

  • Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma in Ultrasound from an accredited university
  • State Registration (HCPC/NMC or equivalent)
  • Experience with a broad range of ultrasound procedures including obstetric, gynecological, general medical, MSK, vascular
  • Previous NHS experience as an Advanced Practitioner in Ultrasound
  • Ability to independently report examinations and manage own workload
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to handle sensitive information
  • Mentor or supervise students and junior staff
  • Excellent communicator (verbal and written)
  • Team player
  • Resilience under pressure

  • Independent reporting of examinations
