Overview
In this role you will deliver specialist echocardiography investigations and reporting for adult patients, while supervising and training junior staff. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality diagnostic support across inpatient and outpatient pathways. The position covers sites across Warwick and Stratford, with a clear emphasis on ongoing skills development and service improvement. You will engage in advanced imaging techniques and contribute to research, audits, and training within the department.
Responsibilities
- Perform and interpret routine and specialised echocardiography investigations
- Deliver advanced echocardiography including portable scans and provide expert interpretation and clinical diagnosis
- Assist Consultants in routine and complex procedures (TOE, pericardiocentesis, bubble contrast, stress echo)
- Participate in 3D and TDI examinations as the service develops
- Respond to cardiac emergencies and provide timely support
- Engage in MDT activities, research, audits, and equipment testing
- Train and supervise junior staff and students pursuing cardiology
- Maintain and calibrate equipment to ensure safety and accuracy
- Plan and organise clinics, manage staff, equipment, and consumables
- Maintain professional standards, governance, infection control, and safe working practices
- Contribute to service development and flexible working arrangements as needed
Key requirements
- BSE adult accreditation
- Appropriate Science Degree (or equivalent)
- ILS (minimum)
- High level of specialist knowledge in noninvasive cardiology
- Proven experience in teaching and leading staff in cardiology
- Ability to lead department in manager's absence and participate in project management
- UK professional registration
