Overview
In this role you will join a large anaesthetics team providing obstetric, emergency and elective services, plus preoperative assessment. You will share the organisation and operation of the department with colleagues, including on-call and weekend duties. The post offers 10 programmed activities with theatre-based sessions and flexible specialty content. You will contribute to high-quality care in a Trust rated outstanding, bringing leadership to a busy, cross-functional environment.
Responsibilities
- Share responsibility for organisation and operation of all aspects of the anaesthetic department
- Provide on-call duties and scheduled emergency cover, including weekends
- Coordinate theatre-based sessions (DCC activity) with flexible specialty content
- Share continuing clinical cover with Consultant colleagues
- Oversee ICU, obstetric anaesthesia and epidural service, chronic and acute pain services
- Engage with ICU Outreach team to ensure 24/7 coverage
- Participate in departmental meetings and Medical Staff Committee
- Support the educational supervision framework within the department
Key requirements
- Full registration with the GMC
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of anticipated CCT date or equivalent
