Overview
In this role you will provide expert psychiatric care to adult women with complex mental health needs within a forensic/general adult context. You will run a medium or low secure ward, collaborating with a supportive peer group to deliver tailored care programmes and manage both physical and mental health concerns. The role emphasizes multidisciplinary work, service development, and staying current with best practices. Responsibilities
- Lead care provision for adult women on a medium/low secure ward
- Deliver and oversee care programmes and individualized treatment plans
- Manage physical and mental health concerns of patients
- Conduct psychiatric assessments to determine level of care
- contribute to multidisciplinary care and governance via quality improvement
- Engage with external stakeholders (e.g., NHS England case managers)
- Provide oral and written evidence at tribunals and hearings
- Participate in on-call duties and locum opportunities
- Pursue ongoing professional development and attend relevant courses/conferences
Key requirements
- Full GMC registration
- Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists
- On or about to join the GMC specialist register (forensic or general adult psychiatry)
- Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status
- In good standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists and up to date with appraisals
