Overview
In questa role you will lead the Older Adults Psychiatry service at The Beckett Unit, overseeing the Memory Service and community MDT care. You will deliver high-quality clinical care to older adults, perform assessments, create formulations, and manage treatment to improve quality of life for service users. You will lead and develop the multidisciplinary team, ensuring timely access to services and smooth pathways between primary and secondary care. This role combines clinical leadership with service development within a transformation programme to deliver ‘perfect care’.

Responsibilities
- Act as Responsible Clinician for patients in caseload within Later Life & Memory Service
- Provide consultative, supervisory and supportive leadership to the multidisciplinary team
- Lead development of the service and ensure timely access to services
- Coordinate memory and cognitive assessments and manage treatment plans
- Promote smooth pathways between primary and secondary care and integration with other services
- Be accessible for expert advice to GPs, primary care staff, patients and carers
- Participate in allocation procedures and adapt to team needs
- Work within multi-disciplinary, co-located teams including health and social services
- Oversee GP surgeries and care home liaison for the caseload
- Engage in service transformation initiatives to improve care quality
Key requirements
- MbChb, MBBS or equivalent
- Full GMC registration
- Eligible/confirmed for inclusion on Specialist Register in Old Age Psychiatry or within 6 months of CCST/CCT
- Section 12(2) approval or ability to gain approval as Approved Clinician
- Valid UK driving licence or suitable alternative
- Excellent clinical knowledge and bio-psycho-social approach
- Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
- Ability to meet duties under MHA and MCA
- Experience in teaching, CPD, audits and service evaluation (essential/desirable)
- Experience in management and service development (desirable)
- Experience with IT systems (desirable)
- DoLs assessor training or experience (desirable)
- Excellent communication (oral and written)
