Join the Community Enablement and Recovery Team (CERT), a specialist community rehabilitation service supporting people with severe and enduring mental health needs across the Black Country.

CERT delivers intensive, recovery-focused support to people transitioning from hospital and specialist placements into their local communities. Guided by the CHIME principles of connectedness, hope, identity, meaning and empowerment, we help people build independence and live fulfilling lives in the least restrictive setting.

Working alongside a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and multidisciplinary team, you will provide highly specialist assessment, formulation, intervention and consultation for people with complex needs, including psychosis, bipolar disorder and psychological trauma. You will champion psychologically informed care, positive risk management, supervision, training and workforce development.

As a senior clinician, you will influence service development, governance, quality improvement, research and outcome evaluation, working with service users, carers and partner agencies to improve outcomes.

We are seeking an HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologist with experience of severe mental illness, evidence-based therapies, supervision and multidisciplinary leadership.

Main duties of the job:

• You will provide highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation, intervention and consultation for people with severe and enduring mental health needs, supporting the delivery of psychologically informed, recovery-focused care.
• Delivering specialist psychological assessments, formulations, evidence-based interventions and positive risk management for individuals, families, carers and groups.
• Providing expert consultation and psychological advice to multidisciplinary colleagues, contributing to care planning, clinical decision-making and pathway development.
• Promoting recovery, hope and social inclusion through compassionate, collaborative working with service users and carers.
• Providing clinical supervision, leadership and support to psychologists, psychological therapists, assistant psychologists, trainees and wider multidisciplinary staff.
• Developing and delivering training, reflective practice and psychologically informed approaches across the service.
• Contributing to service leadership, quality improvement, audit, governance, NICE benchmarking, service redesign and innovation.
• Leading and supporting service evaluation, outcome monitoring, research and project work to improve quality and effectiveness.
• Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, information governance, professional practice and continuing professional development in line with Trust and HCPC requirements.

Person Specification:

Education/Qualifications:

• Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied Psychology (or its equivalent) as accredited by the BPS including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
• Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
• HCPC registration as an Applied Psychologist with Chartered Status.

Experience:

• Working as a qualified applied psychologist within the designated service including a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and a range of clinical severity across a range of care settings.
• Exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care as a care coordinator within the context of a multidisciplinary team.
• Teaching, training, consultancy and clinical supervision and field supervisor for doctoral theses.

Knowledge:

• Evidence-based practice relevant to the role.
• Risk assessment and risk management.
• Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health and its implications for clinical practice.

Skills/Personal Qualities:

• Communicate highly complex, highly sensitive and contentious information effectively, to a wide range of people.
• Adapt creatively the evidence base for the interventions relevant to the client group.
• Utilise psychometric tests competently.
• Provide effective teaching, training, consultancy and clinical supervision for the multidisciplinary team.
