Overview
In this role you will lead the Care Group's operational performance and drive service improvement to support high-quality, efficient patient care. You will work closely with clinicians, senior leaders, and managers to deliver on quality, activity, and financial targets within an NHS setting. You will analyse performance data, identify risks and opportunities, and implement solutions that improve patient outcomes. This is a pivotal, cross-functional role that combines leadership, problem-solving, and people management to shape service delivery and governance. A strong hook is the opportunity to influence care pathways and efficiency at a Trust-level, aligning with broader healthcare goals.
Responsibilities
- Lead operational performance across the Care Group to meet quality, activity, performance, and financial targets
- Manage day-to-day service operations and support clinicians and senior leaders for smooth service delivery
- Monitor and analyse performance data to identify risks and opportunities and implement improvements
- Collaborate with Consultants, Matrons, Clinical Directors, Finance, HR, and Performance teams to develop services and improve patient outcomes
- Support financial management including budget monitoring, cost improvement programmes, business case development, and ensuring value for money
- Lead and support projects and service improvement initiatives to introduce new ways of working and enhance patient experience
- Ensure effective governance and compliance, including audits, policy development, and performance management processes
- Manage and develop staff, overseeing recruitment, attendance, appraisals, training, and leading administrative teams
- Represent the Care Group in internal and external meetings and contribute to strategic decision-making
Key requirements
- Formal education to first degree level or equivalent in Business Management
- Significant NHS operational management experience
- Project management experience in the last two years
- Experience managing waiting lists (PTLs) to support RTT delivery
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including senior Consultants
- Experience in development of policies and procedures/business cases
- Line management experience in the last two years
- Experience in managing/monitoring budgets in the last two years
- Highly motivated and self-directed with the ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Effective management of clinical incidents and complaints
- Data analysis and performance reporting (implied)
