Cornwall is a special place - a rural, peninsula county that is served by just one acute healthcare provider, the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT). We have three sites - the main hospital in Truro, plus a centre of excellence for orthopaedics at St Michael's Hospital in Hayle and a community acute hub at West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance. Together, they serve over 600,000 people across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Over the next 10 years, RCHT will experience a major transformation. Our new Women and Children's Hospital will be built on our Truro site as part of the national New Hospital Programme. This major change will go far beyond structural and infrastructure changes; we also have plans to become a more digitally enabled, "smart" hospital.

Associated changes between now and then include a new microbiology unit built to the centre of the site, upgraded electrical infrastructure, improved parking and access routes, new pharmacy offices and a relocated cardiac department. In fact, more than a third of the site will change. And at the end of the programme of works, the Princess Alexandra Wing will be demolished.

If you would like to come and join this exciting programme, we are looking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic individual who has a proven track record working as a project manager.

The PM role will provide dedicated project management support to projects within the overall programme including a number of enabling projects as required to facilitate the main scheme, some of which are large projects (circa £25m) in their own right. The appointed PM will need to lead projects through all phases of development, acting as PM for the Client and taking responsibility for coordinating, managing and reporting on all aspects of delivery including the programme, cost, quality, risk and change management that make up the requirements for successful delivery of each stage of the project.

The job role requires an experienced construction professional ideally experienced in health care projects with a minimum NEC4 qualification, to lead the delivery of one or more of the Trust's major capital construction projects to successful outcomes. The role will include undertaking project management services for the client in the delivery of the major projects within the Women and Children's programme. This may include the appointment of professional project and design teams, procurement and contract strategy, selection of contractors, coordinating and managing design, construction and post construction phases, and managing large and complex stakeholder groups (both internal and external to the Trust).

Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) is at the heart of acute and specialist care for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We care for a population of around 470,000 people, a number that increases during visitor seasons. We employ around 6,700 staff, united by a shared commitment to deliver safe, high-quality care. We provide services across three main hospital sites, with around 780 inpatient beds: Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, St Michael's Hospital in Hayle, West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance.

As a teaching hospital, we're proud to work in partnership with the University of Exeter Medical School, the University of Plymouth School of Nursing and Midwifery, and Peninsula Dental School, supporting the next generation of health professionals. We're committed to staying at the forefront of medical advance; investing in our people, developing our facilities, and expanding the specialist care we can offer locally so more patients can receive the care they need closer to home. We have a growing reputation for research and innovation that helps shape better care for the future. The Knowledge Spa, located on our Truro site, is a vibrant hub for medical, nursing and professional education across clinical and non-clinical roles. It plays a vital role in attracting, developing and retaining highly skilled teams. We are driven by one clear ambition, Outstanding Care for One and All, care that's safe, kind and high-quality.
