Overview

In this role you will lead the 400m+ New Women and Children’s Hospital Programme, a flagship NHS transformation project in Cornwall. You will shape service redesign, pathways and care models across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, reporting to executive boards and engaging national bodies. You will steer planning, development and delivery of a modern, digitally enabled campus, balancing clinical, financial and reputational risks. This is a high-impact leadership position with national significance and a lasting legacy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of the New Women and Children’s Hospital Programme (capital and service transformation)
  • Plan, develop and deliver a state-of-the-art hospital facility
  • Direct programme governance, business case development and commercial strategies
  • Engage with political leaders, clinicians, regulators and national bodies
  • Drive redesign of services, patient pathways and models of care
  • Lead a diverse team and manage major risks across a complex assurance process
  • Operate with strategic autonomy in a public sector context
  • Influence decisions at Trust Board and regional/national levels

Key requirements

  • Experience leading multi-facet programmes at 100m+ scale
  • Board level or national assurance process experience
  • Public sector board communication experience
  • HM Treasury business case development for major capital projects
  • Management of capital budgets exceeding 100m
  • Knowledge of NHS construction procurement processes (traditional, P21+, Procure 22, LIFT, etc)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software
  • Strong stakeholder management and change leadership
  • Understanding of public sector governance and risk management
  • Experience delivering design, construction, handover in infrastructure projects
