Main duties of the job:
- Maintain the highest clinical standards in the management of emergency services.
- Shared responsibility for the day-to-day management of the clinical areas.

- Participate in audit and quality assurance processes.

The department consists of a multi-disciplinary team of medical consultants, general practitioners, resident doctors, physician associates, nurses, healthcare assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, management, and administrative staff who all work together to provide a safe, effective, and caring environment to meet the medical needs of the local population.
Person Specification:
Qualifications & Training:
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Full registration with GMC, with licence to practice as a Senior Doctor in Emergency Medicine.
- Specialty Doctor - 4 years full-time (or equivalent part-time) post-graduate training, with at least 2 years worked in Emergency Medicine (including relevant overseas work).
- OR Specialist Doctor - 12 years post-graduate full-time (or equivalent), with at least 5 years working in Emergency Medicine (including relevant overseas work).
- ATLS, ALS, APLS or PALS certification, or a commitment to attend these courses within 6 months of appointment.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Evidence of participation in audit, and an ongoing willingness to be involved in the audit programme of the department.
Specific Skills:
- Commitment to incorporating research and audit into day-to-day working.
- Ability to teach clinical skills.
- Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems.
