Overview
In this role you will lead acute medicine services within AMU/SDEC and support ED presence. You’ll join a team of 10 consultants as part of a broader trust mission to deliver high-quality, continuously improving clinical care. You will help develop acute medicine services and participate in on-call duties, contributing to strategic plans like frailty pathways and capital improvements. This position offers mentorship opportunities and close links with medical schools, with a focus on patient-centered, high-standard care.

Responsibilities
- Consultant supervision of the acute medical unit
- Consultant supervision of the ambulatory emergency care unit
- Provide acute medicine presence and support within the emergency department
- Participation in the medical on-call rota (weekday 1:21, weekends 1:7)
- Provide consultant-level care for winter escalation beds under acute medicine
Key requirements
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent
- Registered as a specialist in acute medicine with the GMC or eligible within 6 months of interview
- Mentoring staff (medical and nursing)
- Clear, logical thinking with analytical approach
- Ability to work without direct supervision where appropriate
- Acute medicine expertise
- Understanding of clinical risk management
