Overview
In this role you will lead high-risk obstetrics services at Musgrove Park Hospital, balancing a broad obstetrics & gynaecology workload with a dedicated focus on multiple pregnancies. You will establish a dedicated antenatal clinic for multiple pregnancies and drive service development toward Twins Trust accreditation, while providing clinical leadership across the cross-site fetal monitoring program. The post also includes general obstetrics & gynaecology duties, teaching, audit, and participation in a 1:12 on-call rota, within a supportive consultant team.

Responsibilities
- Establish and lead a dedicated antenatal clinic for multiple pregnancies with scanning support
- Lead a weekly elective caesarean section list as part of the team
- Provide leadership as Cross County Fetal Monitoring Lead across both sites
- Supervise education, training and appraisal of junior doctors; contribute to teaching
- Engage in clinical governance, audit, and service development; contribute to research and quality improvement
- Participate in on-call rota (1:12) and appropriate consultant ward rounds
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated patient-centred care
- Attend and contribute to national and Twins Trust audits and clinical quality standards
- Support departmental teaching and postgraduate programmes
- Manage administrative duties and be involved in CPD per GMC/Royal Colleges guidance
Key requirements
- Depth and breadth of clinical experience in high-risk obstetrics
- Experience in elective and emergency general obstetrics
- General gynaecology experience including outpatient and day-case activity
- Ability to work without direct supervision and provide non-resident on-call
- Leadership, governance, audit, and teaching experience
- GMC registration with license to practice; entry on Specialist Register in Obstetrics & Gynecology or eligibility
- Advance training in high-risk antenatal services or maternal medicine (ATSM/SITM)
