Overview
You will lead the aseptic services unit as an Authorised Pharmacist, helping to establish a state-of-the-art Section 10 PASU. You will collaborate with the cancer and technical teams to deliver high-risk injectables, chemotherapy, and trials, shaping a patient-centered aseptic service. The role supports national transformation of Aseptic Services within the NHS and offers a ground-up opportunity to implement high standards and robust practices. You will work across wards and therapy units to ensure safe, compliant, and effective treatment provision. This position combines clinical leadership with hands-on development of facilities and processes to deliver high-quality outputs.
Responsibilities
- Act as an Authorised Pharmacist supervising day-to-day preparation and release of products per local, regional, and national guidelines
- Develop and maintain facilities, equipment, and work practices to meet high technical standards in aseptic services
- Coordinate treatment provisioning with the Day Therapy Unit, haemato-logy inpatient unit, and other wards requiring high-risk injectables
- Ensure compliance with GMP, GDP, GCP, and other relevant standards
- Collaborate with the aseptic services technical team and cancer team to support new Section 10 operations and expansion initiatives
Key requirements
- Member of General Pharmaceutical Council
- Master in Pharmacy
- Experience in hospital pharmacy
- Experience in aseptic services under Section 10 exemption of the Medicines Act 1968
- Awareness of GMP standards
- Clinical pharmacology knowledge and clinical reasoning
- Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
- Understanding of hospital pharmacy legislation
- Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and DBS considerations (as required)
