Overview

In this role you will lead patient safety learning and improvement across the Trust, translating insights into sustainable actions. You will work with clinical teams to drive systems-based learning and compassionate investigations. As a senior member of the Quality and Safety Team, you will shape safety culture, education, and partnerships to deliver measurable safety improvements and align with the NHS strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee patient safety learning responses and investigations across the Trust
  • Translate learning into measurable safety actions and improvement plans
  • Support delivery of the NHS Patient Safety Strategy and strengthen local, regional, and national partnerships
  • Develop and deliver patient safety education and training promoting systems thinking, human factors, and just culture
  • Support and develop others, acting as a visible, accessible safety leader across organisational boundaries

Key requirements

  • Experience of leading patient safety learning responses in a large/complex organisation using systems learning approaches
  • Ability to translate learning into actionable safety improvements with clinical, operational and improvement teams
  • Knowledge of quality governance, incident response, risk management and NHS policy related to patient safety
  • Proven track record in delivering improvement projects and change initiatives
  • Master's level education (or equivalent) and/or senior leadership experience
  • Level 3 or 4 patient safety syllabus training, or willingness to work towards
  • Quality improvement qualification or equivalent experience
