Overview
In this role you join a growing Urology Department committed to high-quality, patient-centred care within a multi-site NHS group. You will be part of an established consultant team, contributing to service development and teaching across levels. You’ll practice evidence-based urology in a multidisciplinary setting, with opportunities to develop sub-specialty interests and lead service improvements. The position offers a stable, collaborative environment with a focus on training and clinical governance. You will be at the core of delivering impactful care while supporting the department’s strategic goals.
Responsibilities
- Participate in multidisciplinary team discussions and MDT-driven patient care
- Provide ongoing care to patients with administrative duties supported by secretarial input
- Develop sub-specialty interests aligned with division needs and Trust strategy
- Engage in teaching, examinations, accreditation, and continuing medical education
- Provide cover during colleagues’ leave as per Trust policies
- Contribute to clinical audits and CME activities
- Participate in out-of-hours consultant rota as defined in the job plan
- Lead and participate in clinical governance and risk management activities
- Supervise junior colleagues and contribute to departmental and Trust-wide teaching programs
- Assist in cost-effective use of resources and adherence to financial procedures
- Support policy and strategy development as part of the Division Management Team
Key requirements
- Fully registered with the GMC
- CCT (or equivalent) or be within 6 months of CCT at interview and on the GMC Specialist Register in urology
- Intercollegiate Specialty Examination
- Experience equivalent to UK CCT and expertise in the full range of urological conditions
- Ability to lead a multi-professional team and take independent responsibility for patient care
