Overview
In this role you will lead the Primary Care Liaison Service for a Swindon CMHT catchment, providing clinical leadership, triage, assessment and care recommendations. You’ll advise colleagues on assessment and management, and collaborate with Acute and Community teams to support safe care pathways. You will supervise medical staff and contribute to service development and governance. This position offers a hands-on leadership role within a mission‑driven mental health trust focused on high-quality, coordinated care.
Responsibilities
- Provide assessments and determine appropriate service provision for service users
- Lead and supervise medical staff within the service
- Triage referrals and advise on care pathways
- Collaborate with Recovery, Intensive and Inpatient Services to facilitate transitions
- Support clinical governance and audits and participate in MDT meetings
- Respond to Advice and Guidance requests within 3–5 working days
- Contribute to strategic development and service improvement within the local trust
- Provide medical responsibility and ECT supervision as needed
Key requirements
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
- MRCPsych or MRCPsych-equivalent (or expected to obtain)
- Fully GMC registered and licensed to practice
- S12 approval or eligible within 3 months; CCT in General Adult Psychiatry desirable
- Experience assessing and treating patients in inpatient/community settings
- Leadership and multidisciplinary teamwork experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to manage crises and long-term conditions across multiple modalities
