Overview
In this role you join a 13-strong consultant team to deliver diagnostic surgical pathology and cytology, with optional autopsy. You will contribute to ARCH-driven translational research and the shift toward academically integrated Cellular-Molecular Pathology for a genomic era. You’ll have teaching, research, and audit components in your job plan, with CPD actively supported. Based in Swansea, you’ll work within a nationally connected pathology service that informs regional and national care.

Responsibilities
- Provide diagnostic surgical pathology and cytology services
- Participate in regional lymphoma and sarcoma diagnostic programs and HER-2 testing as part of the service
- Engage in teaching, training, and audit activities
- Contribute to ARCH-driven translational research and development of Cellular-Molecular Pathology
- Possibly perform autopsy as part of service delivery
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and management to improve services
- Support continuous professional development and clinical leadership in the team
- Work across departmental sites as mutually agreed
Key requirements
- Full and specialist GMC registration or eligibility within six months of interview
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or within six months of award (for UK trained applicants) or evidence of UK-equivalent qualification (for non-UK trained)
- Evidence of ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and managers to improve services
- Experience in teaching and training, and in initiating audit
- Understanding of information systems and technology
- Strong leadership
- Effective team working and collaboration
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Histopathology and cytopathology diagnostic expertise
- Autopsy (optional)
- Experience with translational research and genomic-era pathology
