Responsibilities

  • Surgery and telephone consultations, home visits, and timely prescription processing
  • Autonomous decision-making on presenting health concerns
  • Assessing undifferentiated problems and screening for disease risk factors
  • Developing patient-centred care plans in line with protocols
  • Providing counselling and health education
  • Admitting/discharging patients and coordinating referrals
  • Documenting clear, contemporaneous notes; data collection for audit
  • Issuing computer-generated prescriptions and adhering to formulary
  • Undertaking normal GP duties within primary care

Key requirements

  • Full GMC registration
  • National Performers List registration (England)
  • Independent prescriber
  • Appropriate defence indemnity (MPS/MDU)
  • Evidence of current validation
  • Evidence of last appraisal
  • Eligibility to practice in the UK independently
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Strong IT skills
  • SystmOne clinical system
  • Prescribing formulary compliance
  • Data collection for audit and read-coding patient data
