b Overview /b p In this role you will contribute to a high-quality Molecular Diagnostics service within a regional NHS framework. You will help shape cancer-related diagnostic services and lead laboratory processes in a cross-functional setting. You’ll manage day-to-day operations, support junior staff, and maintain UKAS/ISO15189 standards while collaborating with clinicians across NHS and private facilities. This is an opportunity to drive process improvements and impact patient care through advanced molecular testing. /p b Pay / Benefits /b ul li Comprehensive health and wellbeing programme /li li Career development opportunities /li li Supportive, collaborative work environment /li li Strong commitment to staff development /li li Outstanding CQC rating (provider) /li li Salary including High Cost Area Supplement /li /ul b Responsibilities /b ul li Oversee manual and automated molecular assays (e.g., PCR, sequencing, genetic signature analyses) /li li Manage day-to-day provision of services and ensure high standards /li li Support and develop new and existing services in collaboration with the Specialty Lead /li li Supervise and train junior laboratory staff, ensuring competency /li li Assess, authorise and release diagnostic patient results /li li Contribute to UKAS submissions and maintain QMS ISO15189:2022 compliance /li li Keep up-to-date with professional standards and national policies applying to Molecular Diagnostics /li /ul b Key requirements /b ul li Degree in Biological Science /li li State registration with HCPC (BMS or Clinical Scientist) /li li Higher degree or equivalent extensive laboratory experience in a relevant role /li li Evidence of Continuous Professional Development /li li Knowledge of molecular techniques in clinical diagnostics /li li Experience in NHS laboratory environment /li li Experience with quality management systems /li li Experience in managing junior staff and developing laboratory processes /li li Experience in validating new laboratory processes and writing SOPs /li li Experience in training and supervising laboratory staff /li li Understanding of budget management /li li Current UK professional registration /li /ul ul li Proactive team player /li li Strong attention to detail /li li Effective communication with clinicians and nursing staff /li li Molecular techniques in clinical diagnostics /li li PCR and sequencing /li li Quality Management System (QMS) and UKAS ISO15189:2022 /li /ul
