Overview
In this front-of-house role, you help patients access the right healthcare service, manage prescription queries, and contribute to a courteous, proactive team. You’ll work within a friendly, high-performing practice focused on delivering a positive patient experience and efficient front-desk operations. You will handle triage, appointments, and communications, supporting a smooth, patient-centred service. This is a chance to shape patient access in a collaborative GP environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist and signpost patients to appropriate services
- Process appointment, visit, and telephone consultation requests
- Facilitate effective patient communication and signposting
- Handle repeat prescription requests and queries per guidelines
- Open and route mail and messages to clinicians
- Maintain tidy reception and clinical areas and ensure supplies
- Open/secure premises and comply with protocols
- Liaise with pharmacies and healthcare workers to support patient care
- Provide general assistance to the Practice team and uphold a positive image
- Participate in training and flexible Saturday cover for enhanced access clinics
Key requirements
- General Education to GCSE level or equivalent
- Office/Reception experience
- Experience in a non-clinical multi-tasking role
- Good IT skills, interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task and stay calm under pressure
- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection regulations
- Effective communication and patience
- Interpersonal skills
