Overview
In this role you will lead the Digital Infrastructure function within the NHS Trust, ensuring reliable hosting, security, and governance of operating systems, databases and infrastructure hardware. You will manage 2nd/3rd line IT support teams and align IT operations with the Trust’s mission to provide outstanding patient care. You will drive business continuity and disaster recovery while working with stakeholders to support digital strategy and transformation. This is a hands-on leadership role with a focus on service delivery, risk management and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
- Manage incident resolution and service escalations to meet user expectations
- Provide and maintain hosting environment for data center equipment and related facilities
- Implement and maintain housekeeping, backups, security procedures, antivirus, and disaster recovery testing
- Develop and maintain business continuity strategies for major corporate systems and ensure contracts are in place
- Lead and oversee 2nd and 3rd line IT support teams, with emphasis on performance and staff development
- Support digital strategy planning and delivery projects with senior stakeholders
- Ensure adherence to ITIL processes and governance across operations
- Coordinate capacity planning, monitoring, and performance reporting for the infrastructure
Key requirements
- Essential: Degree or equivalent experience in IT or related field
- Essential: 5+ years IT staff and management experience in a large/complex organization
- Essential: Experience with hyper-converged systems, virtualization, networking and telecoms
- Essential: ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent experience
- Essential: Proficiency with Microsoft products and monitoring tools (Tanium, SolarWinds)
- Desirable: MCSE or ITIL Practitioner/Service Operation certifications
- Desirable: NHS/I&T procurement experience and budget management experience (>£500k)
- Essential: Strong written and verbal communication with technical, clinical and administrative audiences
